Janet H. (Trego) Slovinac

Janet H. (Trego) Slovinac, 88, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Glenmoore, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Country Meadows of West Shore in Mechanicsburg, under the compassionate care of Homeland Hospice.

Born in West Caln Township, Chester County, PA, on Monday, September 5, 1938, she was the beloved daughter of the late Samuel L. and Mae I. (Pfitzenmyer) Trego. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Slovinac, Jr., who passed away in 1995.

A proud graduate of the Downingtown Senior High School Class of 1956, Janet began her career as a secretary for the Downingtown Area School District, where she met the love of her life, John. Devoted to her faith, she was a member of the Forks of the Brandywine Evangelical Church for over 50 years. There, she served dedicatedly as the church secretary for more than 33 years and lifted her voice in the church choir from 1957 until 2010, prior to relocating to Mechanicsburg.

In addition to her parents and husband, Janet was preceded in death by her three sisters, Clara Nuse, Nancy Waltman, and Betty Snyder, as well as her five brothers, Charles, Eugene, Allan, James, and Harold Trego.

She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Patricia A. “Trish” Slovinac and Carol M. Colangelo, along with Carol’s husband, Daniel, all of Mechanicsburg. She leaves behind three cherished grandchildren, Aaron, Gianna, and Kenneth Colangelo, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Janet had a rare knack for making friends wherever she went, instantly making strangers feel like lifelong companions. To those who were blessed to know her through the years, she was the definition of love, loyalty, generosity, kindness, and gentleness—always paired with a delightful, mischievous sense of humor. Adored by her family, she will be deeply missed, especially by the six who gathered around her for Sunday family dinners.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the Forks of the Brandywine Evangelical Church, 1648 Horseshoe Pike, Glenmoore, Pa., with Pastor Wesley Grubb and Pastor Andrew Curtis  officiating.  Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.  A calling hour will be held on Friday from 6 PM to 8 PM at The Labs Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook, Pa. and on Saturday from 10 AM to 10:30 AM at the church.
