Nancy L. “NannyLee” Max, age 89 of Honey Brook, went home to be with her Savior on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
Born in Salisbury Twp, Lancaster County, Pa. on Wednesday, October 28, 1936, Nancy was the daughter of the late Paul H. and Mabelle (Dukeman) Simpson. She was the wife of the late Richard L. “Dick” Max, Sr. who died on September 27, 2013.
Nancy was a graduate of the Honey Brook High School Class of 1955. During high school she was on the basketball team, student council, glee club, yearbook staff, band, class play and F.H.A. Nancy was a longtime member of the Honey Brook United Methodist Church. She loved taking family trips with the SOCHECO camping club and going to their own campsite at the shore. Nancy also enjoyed going to their cabin in the mountains with Dick and had fun riding the four-wheeler when they retired. She was a farm girl who enjoyed hunting and horseback riding in her younger days. Nancy was a homemaker to her beloved family. She was also employed as a cashier at the former First National Bank of Honey Brook and the Stoltzfus Market of Honey Brook.
Nancy was preceded in death by a brother, P. Allen Simpson and two sisters, Evelyn I. Spencer and Kathryn A. “Chook” Leisey.
Surviving are 2 sons: Richard L. Max, Jr. of Cambridge and Edward Max and his wife Faye Max of Honey Brook and a granddaughter, Marguerite F. Max of Downingtown.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 11 AM from the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, 753 Mount Zion Road, Narvon with Pastor Sheila Barber officiating. There will be no calling hour or funeral home service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Nancy to the Honey Brook United Methodist Church Building Improvement Fund, PO Box 178, Honey Brook, Pa. 19344-0178.
