Joan M. Berstler, age 91, of Honey Brook, formerly of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at her home at the Tel Hai Retirement Community.
She was born in West Milton, PA, on October 18, 1933. Joan was the daughter of the late Morris E. Ravert and Laura (Hartman) Ravert. The family moved to Philadelphia when she was a child, where she attended schools and, later, worked for F.W. Woolworth. She was the wife of James B. “Jim” Berstler, with whom she shared 69 years of marriage.
Joan was a homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother to her beloved family. She was a talented artist and crafter and was skilled in needlework, gardening, and home decorating. Joan supported and encouraged her husband, children, and grandchildren in their endeavors and careers, and was always on-hand to cheer their successes. She enjoyed traveling and made many friends along the way!
Joan was preceded in death by her son, Steven Berstler.
Surviving family members include her husband Jim; daughter Diane and husband Charles Kadyk of Mohnton; daughter-in-law Edith Berstler of West Chester; brother Morris E. Jr. and wife Pat Ravert of Secane, PA; two granddaughters, Suzanne Berstler and Laura and husband Domenic Perfetti; and great-granddaughter, Lilah Perfetti.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 10 AM to 10:30 AM at from The Labs Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook, PA. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with Pastor David Hicks officiating. At the family’s request, interment will be private in Media, PA, following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Joan to Chester County SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Road, West Chester, Pa. 19380.
