Leota "Bobbie" Riffey, 91 years old of Berwyn, formerly Honey Brook, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Sunrise Senior Living of Paoli.
Leota was born on October 5, 1933 in Exchange, WV. She was the daughter of the late Russell J. Knight and Eva Lee (Foster) Knight.
Leota was employed at the Burroughs Corporation (Unisys) and later worked for Best Lock Company in Paoli. Leota’s talent as a self-taught guitarist led her to many memorable years as a member of the country and western band Joe Rinier and The Country Sunshine, opening for some of the biggest stars in the genre.
Leota had a deep affection for cats, especially her beloved companions. She was an avid birdwatcher who found peace in the beauty of nature. Leota was a faithful reader of the Bible, and her spiritual beliefs were a guiding force throughout her life. A good conversation with family and friends over the telephone and family gatherings were amongst her favorite pastimes.
Leota was preceded in death by her four brothers; Olen, Warder, William, and Howard Knight and a sister Mary Hacker.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Loretta (Wayne) Webb of Creamery, and son Edmond Joe Riffey of Downingtown; four grandchildren: Jeremy (Jen) Giles of Royersford, Benjamin (Jessica) Webb of Creamery, Colleen Webb of Creamery, and Jacob (Allie) Riffey of Chester Springs. Leota also had four great grandchildren: Julie, Hudson, Lindley, and Everett.
Leota’s loved ones will miss her warm heart, musical talent, and unwavering love for all living things. She leaves behind a legacy of joy, compassion, and a life well-lived.
A graveside service will be held at the Fairview Presbyterian Church Cemetery of Glenmoore (800 Fairview Road) at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 1st. A celebration of life and luncheon will follow after.
