Ronald F. "Ron" Littlejohn

Ronald “Ron” F Littlejohn

March 19, 1936-January 11, 2025

A beloved husband, father, teacher, and coach.

Ronald Francis Littlejohn, 88, of Lakewood, went to be with the Lord and his wife on January 11, 2025. Ron was at peace and comfortable. He was able to see his grandchildren this past Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Ron was born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 19, 1936, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Shubert) Littlejohn. He graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) with his Bachelor’s degree in Education in 1958 and IUP with his Master’s degree in Education in 1973. He began his teaching career as a high school teacher at Conemaugh Township School District in Davidsville, PA. This is where he met his wife, Judy. They were married September 7, 1963, and moved to Jamestown the following summer when Ron took a job at Southwestern High School. In his three decades of teaching and coaching, he touched many students and athletes' lives.

Ron spent the last year and a half of his life at Tel Hai Retirement Community in Honey Brook, PA, close by his daughter and family. He made many new friends and was well liked in the community. Other residents and staff loved talking to him and would always compliment his blue eyes.

Ron is survived by his sons James (Mary) Littlejohn of Orlando, FL, Matthew (Patricia) Littlejohn of Arlington, VA, and a daughter Elizabeth (Carl) Siewert of Downingtown, PA. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren: Jaclyn (Adam) Looper, Christina (Becky) Sausser, Katie Siewert, Alyson, James, Francesca, and Alexander Littlejohn, Scoty (Bridgett) Flynn, and Amanda (Nicholas) Dykes, along with five great grandchildren: Carson, Dresden, Trace, Ronan, and Maddox. Ron is also survived by his cousins June Balish and Jimmy, Janet, Al, Henry and Joe Shubert, and brothers-in-law Alan (Judy) Dinning and David (Nancy) Dinning.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife Judy Littlejohn (Dinning), to whom he was married to for 54 years. He was also preceded by his brother-in-law Ray (June) Dinning, sister-in-law Maxine (Paul) Ott, as well as his parents.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Lakewood United Methodist Church or Kevin's Guest House in Buffalo, NY. This house served as a healthcare hospitality facility where Ron and Judy stayed during her cancer treatments.

There will be a memorial service at Lakewood United Methodist Church at a later date.

Arrangements by The Labs Funeral Home, Inc. of Honey Brook, Pa.

Dear Jim, Matt, Betsy and extended family, I loved your dad. He was someone who would do anything for his students. My love for accounting and future career was all from him. He was someone I knew would be there when my own father was busy or if I needed help. My parents loved your parents. I am so, so sorry for your loss. He was an amazing man, husband, father, teacher and friend.

I met Ron when I first started teaching at Southwestern. I was in charge of an exam room with several boisterous football players. Ron came in and said who left you with this crew. He immediately took over and saved my life. I bought him candy the next day. He was a wonderful man. Also one day he was pulled over by a cop. I stopped my car and said to the copyou can’t give a ticket to this wonderful person. He didn’t get a ticket. My deepest sympathy ??

Ron will be greatly missed at Tel Hai, to say he was well liked by the residents is an understatement. I will miss him walking the halls, telling stories, his little comments and his beaming smile. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to take care of Ron during the last year and a half. My thoughts are out to the family during this difficult time.
