Lois Larue (Lerch) Devine, age 92, Lebanon, PA, formerly of Honey Brook, left her earthly body and entered the presence of our Lord, on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at the Stoneridge Town Center in Myerstown. Lois was born on August 8, 1932 in Ephrata, Pa.
Lois, “Chief” (as her husband fondly called her), was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, Carl W. Devine, with whom she had shared 57 years of marriage.
Lois was the daughter of the late Calvin B Lerch and Tama May (Schaeffer) (Lerch) Weaver.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Grace (Lerch) Landis and a brother, Randall Lerch.
Lois was a homemaker, who loved to cook. She made the best chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. She enjoyed being outdoors working in her elaborate flower gardens and knew the names of each flower she had planted. She loved crossword puzzles, thrifting (way before it was trendy) and crocheting. She was also never without a cat or dog, as she was a huge animal lover.
Lois was the beloved mother to four children: A daughter, Wenda Wells, wife of Wayne Wells of Hot Springs, South Dakota. A son, Jeffrey Devine, husband of Doris (Myer) Devine of New Holland, Pennsylvania. A daughter, Linda Leisey of Lebanon, Pennsylvania. And the late Karl Devine, husband to the late Sherry (Bare). Lois (Nana to her grands) was also blessed with 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. Her family was her proudest accomplishment.
Lois’ family loved her greatly for her infectious humor, her godly wisdom and caring heart. She will be terribly missed by all who loved her.
A private service and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements by the Labs Funeral Home, Inc. of Honey Brook, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Lois to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, PO Box 69, Mohnton, Pa. 19540-0069.
