Alice E. Shepherd, 90 years of Reading, formerly of Honey Brook, died on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at her home, while under the loving care of her family and hospice.
She was born in Konnarock, VA on Monday, September 26, 1932. Alice was the daughter of the late Oscar and Mamie (Sawyer) Henderson. She was the wife of the late Elmer Shepherd, who died on December 18, 2021.
Alice was a homemaker to her beloved family. She was also a waitress at the former Howard Johnson near Elverson on the PA Turnpike. Alice attended the Honey Brook United Methodist Church. She was a member of the DAR and a volunteer at Steeple to People for decades.
She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Oscar Jr., Robert, and Gerald, four sisters, Virginia, Anne, Sharon, and Katherine, two sons in- laws, Larry Creed and Bill Davis and a great grandson, Noah Stephens.
Alice is survived by four daughters, Judy (Don Grenier) Davis of Flying Hills, Margie (Reah) Wallace of Frankford, De., Nancy Creed of Cochranville, and Cathy Riffey of Reading, four brothers, John Henderson, William Henderson, Roger Henderson, and Daniel Henderson and a sister, Karen Davenport. There are five grandchildren, Aubrey (Bear) Stephens, Meggan (Rocco, Jr.) Pirozzi, Jason (Kari) Creed, Alison (James Danser) Creed and Jacob (Allie) Riffey and nine great grandchildren, Chase, Elizabeth, Jenna, Clara, Rocco, III, Lindley, Everett, Brady and Madison.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 11 AM at The Labs Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook, Pa., with Pastor Mark Beideman officiating. Interment will follow at the Elverson Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM at the funeral home.
