Charles P. "Butch" Plank, Sr.

Charles P. “Butch” Plank, Sr., 71 yrs, of Narvon, formerly of Honey Brook, died on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the Hospice of Lancaster County in Mt. Joy, following a long illness.

He was born in Honey Brook on August 13, 1940 and was the son of the late Charles E. and Elizabeth R. (Hoopes) Plank.   Butch was the husband of Shirley A. (Mountz) Plank, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. 

He was a partner in the Goodman & Plank John Deere Dealership in Honey Brook for many years.  Later, after the dealership was sold, he worked in the service department of the former Kern Hardware Store. Butch was an active lifetime member of the Honey Brook Fire Company. He also was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church and the Draggin Wagon Car Club.

Butch was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Austin Plank, and 2 sisters, Betty Lou Plank & Ruth Ann Emery.

 

He is survived in addition to his wife by 2 sons, Charles P. Jr. and his wife Stacie S. Plank of Honey Brook & Steven P. and his wife Lori R. Plank of Narvon.  There are 4 grandchildren, Amber, Alex, Ryan and Brandon Plank. Also surviving are 9 brothers and sisters, Shirley Weidman, Pat Longabaugh and  Barry Plank of  Narvon, Dottie Mae Barrage,  John Plank, Bob Plank and  Jim Plank of Honey Brook, Bev Ludwig of East Earl, & Richard Plank of Slippery Rock.


A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 11 AM from The Labs Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook, Pa., with Pastor Larry Frank officiating.  Interment will follow at the Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

 In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in the memory of Butch to either the Harmony United Methodist Church, 740 Harmony Road, Morgantown, Pa.  19543 or the Honey Brook Fire Company, PO Box 408, Honey Brook, Pa.  19344-0408.

As a kid in Honey Brook living across the street from Gindy's I have so many memories of Butch on the fork lift. I am so glad I got to see him in October at Rosalie & Dickies party. He will be sadly missed. Grace be with you all, Pat
