I want everyone to know how very proud I was of Ernie, he was such a hard working man and really beat the odds by overcoming a lot of hardships and obstacles. I love him even though I rarely saw or talked to him. He was an amazing person because of his ambitions and refusal to allow himself to be overtaken by failure. I am proud and have a lot of respect for my brother, he had a wonderful sense of humor and I will always remember him in my heart as a very special man. I love you Ernie and plan to spend time with you in heaven. Your loving sister, Linda

Over 40 years ago, I walked into Grace & Ernie's home and lives. There are not enough words of gratitude for all they had done for me (and the boys). He would always "check" on us to see if we needed anything. He was a big teddy bear with a heart of gold when it came to his grandkids & great-grandkids. His smile lit up his whole face -- and lit up our lives! We will miss you, Big Ern." Rest high on that mountain-your work on earth is done."

To everyone in Ernie's family, It is with deep sadness that I write this message to all of you. I came to know "Uncle Ernie" as we called him through some very trying experiences. He was there when I needed help for my mother during a very difficult time. If not for "Uncle Ernie" and young Ernie and all the guys who helped with a huge cleanout, I don't know how we would have ever made it the past 3 years. I will miss his joking and laughter as we kidded back and forth. He was a unique individual, fun, loving and caring. He will be deeply missed by many. But we can all rest assured his life was more than just the dash between his birth and death dates...... like my own father, he was truly one of kind! I am guessing he has gotten to meet up with my dad by now and they are having one heck of a good time together. It's just a shame they didn't know each other on their journey here on earth....................thanks again Ernie for being there when we needed you......Michelle and Pauline

Ernie was the first person I worked for in the trash busines..either that was a blessing or a curse...ha ha he was a good experience for me to learn from him. Him and Grace were good to me and I will always have great memories of him. He used to step on my kids feet and laugh and laugh that is what they remember most of him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family now especially his precious Grace with whom he loved dearly. May God forever hold him close until we all see him again..
